Mediterranean Surf

.

By Nick Clements
January 2009, Villefranche. I just arrived in Villefranche on a photo-assignment with ace Paris based art director and international biker, Yves J. Hayat. Standing at the quayside a noticed a wave formation on the other side of the bay. I went up to my room on the second floor of the hotel and realised there was as single surfer getting tubed time after time. I sent the image to the editor of the Surfer's Journal and the picture is the last in the June issue. I just wanted to share this with you Southsiders as this was a rare event.

Who said there's no Waves in Mediterranee ?

it's like ancient Rome meeting bali...

That was a great few days. Seeing the waves and getting to ride a 1953 Lambretta along the coast at Villfranche was very specail for an Englishman!

Hey Nick. Glad you investigated the wave!
I looked it up on Google Earth(using the Link provided in the article) and cannot seem to match the coast line with the photo ...dyeing to figure out "exactly" where that break is! I will surf it someday ...in the meantime it makes a great Wallpaper on my Computer screen!

Any way to Google Earth it and get the the "Coordinates"?
